Top 5 CBD Products

We wrote about some the the best CBD edibles last week, so this week we thought it best to look at other CBD-based products beyond just flowers, tinctures and edibles. There are so many products out there, and not all of them require consumption! However, just like edibles, many CBD-based products work best when they have other cannabinoids and terpenoids working with them due to the entourage effect.

Here are some of the best CBD products out on the market today, as far as we know. There could be some great ones out there, especially from small, lesser-known producers who might not have the reach of some of the bigger distributors. The simple rule is, if these don’t work for you, experiment a little, ask around and try to find something that does …

Honey Pot Bear Butter Body Lotion

Honey Pot Bear’s body lotion won the High Times SoCal 2017 Cannabis Cup for best topical. Comes in two sizes: 2 fl oz. and 8 fl oz., with about 50 mg THC and 50 mg CBD in every 2 fluid ounces (that’s 200 mg THC : 200 mg CBD for an 8 fl oz. bottle). Yes, this means these body lotions are a 1:1 cannabinoid concentration, and perfect for aches, pains and the general wear-and-tear that comes from an active lifestyle.

This body lotion also contains various other interesting ingredients like: phenoxyethanol, which is found in green tea and is a germicidal (i.e. it kills germs); lactic acid, which is derived from dairy and helps hydrate the skin; and dehydroacetic acid, which works as a preservative and antimicrobial. Then there’s the eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, apricot kernel oil and shea butter, all of which help moisturise and keep the skin healthy.

Honey Pot Bear also make various cannabis-infused teas, one of which is the High Times Cannabis Cup-winning Sencha Green Tea, which has 25 mg of THC in it. If you want CBD, there’s also the prize-winning Chamomile Lavender Peppermint Tea, which will definitely help you sleep and keep off the night time caffeine.

Sunnabis Miracle Mending Skin Salve

Sunnabis won third place at the 2017 High Times Socal 2017 Cannabis Cup for this potent skin salve that can help with psoriasis, eczema and skin rashes. Looking at the ingredients, it’s not hard to see why this salve won a prize. There’s three different strains of cannabis infused into the coconut oil used in this product, including Cannatonic, Humboldt Kush and Girl Scout Cookies, meaning you’ll get plenty of CBD in every pack.

There are also lots of other, all-organic ingredients. In this salve as well, like plantain, lavender, beeswax, clove, cedarwood, thyme, manuka and lots of other things that can help the skin fight microbials and keep the skin clean and irritant-free. Also contains rose, and your skin does end up smelling of flowers after putting a little bit of this on. Available in 0.25 oz. and 1 oz.

Be Trū Organics – Body Pain Cream Relief

Be Trū Organics is the brainchild of former NFL linebacker, Eben Britton, who we’ve had on Elevate the Conversation quite recently. Though we’re usually wary of hemp-based products, there are some good ones out there (especially topicals), and this body cream is definitely one of the better ones out there. This body cream is formulated to beat muscle aches, joint pain, back pain and knee pain, and is great for all sorts of injuries and maladies, and may even help relieve the pain of nerve damage.

Be Trū Organics’ body cream is made without soy-based ingredients and is GMO and gluten-free. The cream is made from a nano-amplified hemp extract named Cebatrū, combined with arnica (a popular herb often used in topical creams for pain), vitamin E, menthol, lavender oil and rosemary oil. This is a great product that’s useful not only for athletes, but also maybe those who suffer from arthritis or who have conditions that might cause mild to moderate nerve pain.

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil

Whether or not this product is any good, we don’t know, but the testimonials are convincing. There’s also the fact that this oil was developed by the Stanley Brothers, who helped create Charlotte’s Web (CW). This adds to this oil’s trustworthiness. Yes, it’s a hemp-based extract, but CW is based on hemp genetics, so this isn’t surprising. Plus, it’s a whole plant extract, so you are still getting most of the other cannabinoids and terpenoids. The hemp used is also US-based, and it’s not just the stalks and stems being used. All bottles of CW tincture have less than 0.3% THC in them, in line with US regulations, and can be shipped to all 50 states.

Although the higher concentrations of this tincture can be quite expensive, the bottles containing 10 mg of hemp extract per 1 mL serving are very reasonably-priced, and could be worth checking out if you suffer from back pain, anxiety or inflammation. Comes in two flavors – the original olive oil, which can be used to dress salads and the like as well, or the chocolate mint if you plan on drinking the oil straight.

Whoopi & Maya Balm

Whoopi Goldberg teamed up with the legendary Maya Elisabeth of OM Edibles to create a range of cannabis products targeted specifically towards women and relief of menstrual discomfort. Though the topical cream is rather good, it’s perhaps the cannabis-infused balm that takes the prizes here for being sweet-smelling and more applicable for a variety of uses, including as a massage oil as well as pain reliever. Whoopi & Maya’s Soak – an Epsom salt bath product – is made to help ease away aches and pains.

As you might expect from Maya, who makes perhaps some of the best cannabis-infused chocolates around, Whoopi & Maya have also made an edible named “Savor”. This is made with raw cacao, and is available in both THC- and CBD- rich versions. This chocolate can be eaten on its own, but is perhaps best when sipped as a drink by melting it into some milk or a milk alternative (many manufacturers recommend hemp milk).

So, in combination with last week’s piece, you now have plenty of CBD-rich edibles, topicals, balms, tinctures and oils to look at and choose from. We recommend trying out the CBD in various forms and products, so don’t just stick to topicals and rubs. Try out the tinctures, edibles and even the actual cannabis flowers to see what treats and works for you best. Yes, you will need a medical marijuana card for some of these things, but it’s worth it if you’re getting the best quality of everything!
